It begins in the high mountains of the northeast in early October and ends in the low hills of the southwest in the second week of November. Seoul’s peak comes at the end of October and the start of November.

The dates are forecast every year and are usually close.

When is peak foliage in Korea in 2026?

Korean forecasts give two dates for each mountain. First foliage (첫단풍) is when about 20 percent of the mountain has turned. Peak (절정) is about 80 percent, and it comes roughly two weeks later. It routes subways and buses normally, but pedestrian navigation down side streets in Seoul or Busan requires local apps like Naver Map or KakaoMap.

Atli is data-only. It does not provide a Korean phone number, SMS or cellular voice calls. KakaoTalk, WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage, FaceTime, maps and translation apps work through the data connection.

The short answer

For a week in South Korea, 3 GB at $6.99 is a practical starting point. Atli connects through KT, its only Korean partner network, with 2G, 3G, LTE and 5G. Data matters more here than in most countries, because Google Maps cannot give you walking directions in Korea and the apps that can are all online. One thing to check before you buy: at 1 GB over 7 days the Asia regional plan costs exactly the same as the Korean one and covers ten places instead of one.
